I Am sermon series
From October 2nd through November 13, join us for a 7-part sermon series about the words Jesus uses to describe himself in the Gospel of John.
27 November 2011 — I Am… . I AM Series Conclusion In what area of your life do you need an infusion of the Lord’s divine power?
20 November 2011 — I Am… . I AM THE TRUE VINE John 15:1-14 Jesus uses a figurative illustration of a vine and branches to describe the expectations He has for His followers. He desires us to “bear fruit” and He goes on to say this happens when we remain in Him. What does it mean to remain in Jesus? What does it mean to bear fruit? These are the questions we will be exploring today.
13 November 2011 — I Am… . I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE (John 14:6) What is Jesus saying? The Bible tells us that this confused the twelve with Jesus. It’s becoming more evident that this statement also confuses some church leaders. My concern is that you may be confused. Or maybe you understand and believe, but your actions say otherwise. Let Jesus humble you, and let this passage draw you to Him, because it truly is all about I AM.
06 November 2011 — I Am… . Questions regarding the Resurrection There are two questions regarding the resurrection that we will be focusing on that directly affects all believes. The first being somewhat of a ridiculous question but needs to be asked, “is the resurrection of Jesus Christ essential to our faith?” The second question is not so ridiculous, “did it really happen?”
30 October 2011 — I Am… . I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE The Preacher said there is “a time to be born, and a time to die” Ecclesiastes. 3:2. But there is no time that proves the sufficiency of Christ like the time of death. The story that focuses on Jesus statement “I am the resurrection and the life” is a common one. It’s a story of a family, of loss, of tears and of grief. It’s also the story of hope in the midst of despair. Hear the hope of the great I AM.
23 October 2011 — I Am… . Jesus repeatedly used every-day pictures to teach important spiritual lessons. The picture today is a double “I am”. “I am the door” and “I am the good shepherd” — the true shepherd for people of Israel and the true shepherd for people of the Nations of this world. Here is a question to ask today: Is Jesus really my shepherd?
16 October 2011 — I Am… . We are going to continue on in a debate from last week between Jesus and the religious leaders of His day. In this debate we will witness the bold, life-altering statements of Christ that require our close attention which are summed up in Jesus’ statement, “before Abraham was I am”. A statement that caused the debate to end, an attempted murder, and potentially your life to be changed.
09 October 2011 — I Am… . Genesis 1- The Beginning “1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. ” If your personal world appears dark, formless, empty and void of meaningful life … “Let There Be Light!”
02 October 2011 — I Am… . In the first of seven “I Am” statements that Jesus makes about himself in the book of John, we read that Jesus describes himself as the “Bread of Life”. But what does this mean? We’ll look at this passage and discover 3 keys to help us understand this confusing passage a little better.
