18 December 2011 — Viewing Christmas Afresh: An Angelic Perspective
Luke 2:8-20 Today we’ll be looking at the account of the Angels and the Shepherds. Would it help to remind us to focus on our Saviour Jesus this Christmas.

11 December 2011 — Viewing Christmas Afresh: An Angelic Perspective
Angels had an important role in the Christmas story. In this second sermon of a 3-part series, we’ll look at what an angel said to Joseph in Matthew 1…. and we’ll discover that there is a lot of treasure backed into the brief announcement.

04 December 2011 — Viewing Christmas Afresh: An Angelic Perspective
Luke 1:26-39 This message is the first of three leading up to Christmas. We will take a look at the angelic visit to Mary. How will she respond to the news that, as a virgin, she is going to give birth to the Messiah, the Saviour of the world? There is a lesson within her response that I trust will cause you to look at this familiar story with an new perspective – an angelic perspective.

27 November 2011 — I Am… I AM Series Conclusion In what area of your life do you need an infusion of the Lord’s divine power?

20 November 2011 — I Am… . I AM THE TRUE VINE John 15:1-14 Jesus uses a figurative illustration of a vine and branches to describe the expectations He has for His followers. He desires us to “bear fruit” and He goes on to say this happens when we remain in Him. What does it mean to remain in Jesus? What does it mean to bear fruit? These are the questions we will be exploring today.

13 November 2011 — I Am… . I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE (John 14:6) What is Jesus saying? The Bible tells us that this confused the twelve with Jesus. It’s becoming more evident that this statement also confuses some church leaders. My concern is that you may be confused. Or maybe you understand and believe, but your actions say otherwise. Let Jesus humble you, and let this passage draw you to Him, because it truly is all about I AM.

06 November 2011 — I Am… . Questions regarding the resurrection? There are two questions regarding the resurrection that we will be focusing on that directly affects all believes. The first being somewhat of a ridiculous question but needs to be asked, “is the resurrection of Jesus Christ essential to our faith?” The second question is not so ridiculous, “did it really happen?”

30 October 2011 — I Am… . I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE The Preacher said there is “a time to be born, and a time to die” Ecclesiastes. 3:2. But there is no time that proves the sufficiency of Christ like the time of death. The story that focuses on Jesus statement “I am the resurrection and the life” is a common one. It’s a story of a family, of loss, of tears and of grief. It’s also the story of hope in the midst of despair. Hear the hope of the great I AM.

23 October 2011 — I Am… . Jesus repeatedly used every-day pictures to teach important spiritual lessons. The picture today is a double “I am”. “I am the door” and “I am the good shepherd” — the true shepherd for people of Israel and the true shepherd for people of the Nations of this world. Here is a question to ask today: Is Jesus really my shepherd?

16 October 2011 — I Am… . We are going to continue on in a debate from last week between Jesus and the religious leaders of His day. In this debate we will witness the bold, life-altering statements of Christ that require our close attention which are summed up in Jesus’ statement, “before Abraham was I am”. A statement that caused the debate to end, an attempted murder, and potentially your life to be changed.

09 October 2011 — I Am… . Genesis 1- The Beginning “1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. ” If your personal world appears dark, formless, empty and void of meaningful life … “Let There Be Light!”

02 October 2011 — I Am… . In the first of seven “I Am” statements that Jesus makes about himself in the book of John, we read that Jesus describes himself as the “Bread of Life”. But what does this mean? We’ll look at this passage and discover 3 keys to help us understand this confusing passage a little better.

25 Sept 2011 — 1 Corinthians 12 . Ken will be sharing with us from 1 Corinthians 12, highlighting points relating to relationships within the church body.

18 Sept 2011 — Romans 12:3-8 . Jesus tells us to come and he also tells us to go.
Two simple words. What does He mean by them?

11 Sept 2011 — Exercise It Does The Body Good . Physical exercise is something that we all know is beneficial for the body. On a spiritual level, here at TAC, we represent the local body of Christ. As the local body of Christ, it is beneficial and crucial that we focus on spiritual exercise. This Sunday, our ministry kick-off Sunday, we will look at Romans 12 to see what type of a spiritual exercise routine God has for you.

04 Sept 2011 — Communion . We have so much to be thankful for and many reasons to commune with our wonderful Provider, Saviour, & Sustainer. We’re so looking forward to this first Sunday of a fresh new month filled with new beginnings! And we’re going to start if off right with a Communion Service!

28 Aug 2011 — Luke 7:36-47 . Luke 7:36-47 describes Jesus being invited to eat at a Pharisee’s home. While there, they are interrupted by “a woman who lived a sinful life”. She, without any kind of hesitation, begins to weep at, and wipe the feet of, Jesus. With this as the back drop, Jesus teaches a powerful lesson about how vital forgiveness is in the believer’s life in order to produce love for God and others.

21 Aug 2011 — VBS Wind up. We believe that God is our Creator & our King. We believe that Jesus is the perfect Son of God that was sent to this world to be our Savior. We believe that Jesus calls us to follow Him! And that is exactly what we told the kids who came to VBS this past week. This morning we are celebrating! The kids will sing the songs for us and Janelle will share some highlights from our great week at Professor Squidmeister and His Deep Sea Laboratory!

14 Aug 2011 — VBS Kick-off. This week, we’re kicking off our VBS program: Professor Squidmeister and his Deep Sea Laboratory. The sea is a fascinating place for us today but it was even more fascinating (and mysterious!) to the people of the Bible. Find out why and what surprising truths we can learn about God from the ocean depths!

07 Aug 2011 — Don’t give up on prayer. One of our Core Values here at TAC is prayer & today we will look at the parable of the Persistent Widow in Luke 18 where Jesus teaches us to “always pray and not give up.”

24 July 2011 — The Peril of Pride. “Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ…” What a contrast from the Jude we see earlier in the New Testament. Beautiful things happen when we push back pride and embrace humility. Jonathan Edwards describes pride as, “the greatest disturber of the soul’s peace and sweet communion with Christ.”

17 July 2011 — JEREMIAH 10. The prophets are not easy to read! They lived in a different time and place, and they’re tucked into the back of our Old Testaments. It’s easy to skip over them. But what they have to say is just as important today.

10 July 2011 — COMMITMENT. In the face of trials and tribulations what do you do? What is your default response? What becomes your priority?

03 July 2011 — Fear: invigorating or debilitating?. Fear is an emotion in our lives that we often think of as debilitating. The fact is that as Christ followers fear can be invigorating and extremely beneficial. Fear can be a means by which God is glorified. This message will unpack Jesus’ teaching on fear from Luke 12:4-7

26 June 2011 — Farewell service for the Janz family. On June 26 we said goodbye to our pastor and his family — who have become our very dear friends in these past 11 years. It was bittersweet: We were sad to see them go but excited about what God has in store for them in this next chapter in their lives. Hear the service in three parts: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.

19 June 2011 — Remember…God’s Mercy & Grace. Anything of worth, anything of value, anything of eternal merit in the past 11 years here at Transcona Alliance Church, is due to nothing less than God’s amazing and rich mercy and grace. As TAC moves forward, it’s Biblical and important to reflect on the journey of the past. Looking back over the years that God has proven His faithfulness , will be a reminder and a faith booster to trust in Him– that His mercy and grace hasn’t changed and will be just as available in the days to come as in the past! So, remember…

12 June 2011 — Harris’ in Ethiopia. Gary and Trisha share with us regarding God’s grace with their experience while in Ethiopia.

29 May 2011 — 5 things I want to say before I leave. EVERYDAY, FIGHT THE BATTLE OF IDOLATRY IN YOUR HEART AND CHASE HARD AFTER JESUS AS YOUR GREATEST TREASURE AND SATISFACTION AND JOY (#5). After 11 God-graced years here at Transcona Alliance Church, God is calling all of us to move on to the next chapter. I’m thankful for these last weeks that God has granted to me before we move out to BC. I want these Sundays to count (not that the past 11 years of Sundays haven’t counted) and I believe that God has given me some departing thoughts that I eagerly and gladly want to share with you. May His Spirit move in our minds to hear clearly, with comprehension, what He’s saying to us, and then may we be obedient to His prompting — so that we become doers of His will and not just hearers!

22 May 2011 — 5 things I want to say before I leave. SPEND YOUR LIFE TODAY, ON THE HOPE OF THE ETERNAL TOMORROW (#4). 15 May 2011 — 5 things I want to say before I leave. HOLD UNSWERVINGLY TO THE TRUTH AND RESOLVE TO LIVE THERE… (#3). 8 May 2011 — 5 things I want to say before I leave. DON’T BANK YOUR SALVATION ON A DECISION OR A PRAYER… (#2). 1 May 2011 — 5 things I want to say before I leave. GLADLY AND JOYFULLY EMBRACE EVERY OPPORTUNITY GOD BRINGS YOUR WAY TO LIVE OUTSIDE YOUR COMFORT ZONE… (#1). 24 April 2011 — Resurrection Celebration Sunday. Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle Paul stated: “And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.” The weight and value of the resurrection of Jesus is expressed clearly in this verse… Praise God: our Lord & Savior, our Treasure – Jesus, is ALIVE today!!

17 April 2011 — God’s Word, transforming our hearts. If we desire to see change in our lives, we need God’s Word implanted in our hearts & minds everyday.

10 April 2011 — Fellowship with God. “Now fellowship with God was one of the richest privileges of unfallen man. The Lord God walked in the garden and talked with Adam, as a man talks with his friend. So long as he was willing and obedient, Adam ate the fruit of the land, and among the rich dainties and wines of which his soul was a partaker, we must number first and foremost, unbroken communion with God his Father and his friend.” (Charles Spurgeon)

03 April 2011 — John 14:1-7. Just as you enter into the Christian life by faith, so also you must live your Christian life by faith.

27 March 2011 — What’s Next?. On our way through this world… What are our aspirations? What are we looking for? What is our final hope? God’s Word, the Bible will direct us!

20 March 2011 — What’s Next for TAC?. Change isn’t easy to navigate. With the changes that are ahead for TAC, we’ll look at a church in the Bible that faced a similar transition and we’ll learn from their example about what’s next for us.

13 March 2011 — Communion Sunday. This morning we’ll spend time reflecting on the payment Jesus Christ made on the cross at Calvary . (We’ll also hear from Pastor Steve regarding his surgery, his future here at TAC, and beyond: Listen to his announcement here).

6 March 2011 — How Much is Too Much? Al Fedorak, Director of Leadership and Church Development from the CMA Midwest District, is speaking today about how we can be transformed by Christ, so that we can do our part in transforming our church, our city, our province, Canada and the world. What does “the other side” mean to us? Do we have some “pigs” to release to God? How much is too much?

27 Feb 2011 — Focus On The World — Mission: TAC (Week 4). We need to be thankful for the number of people that God has impressed upon to be involved in world missions from our TAC community. It is by God’s grace alone that they can serve as they do. We have the privilege of hearing from some of them today. You may find that their words sound familiar as they describe how they began their journey and see similarities to our lives today. Would you consider how God can use you in the building of His kingdom, serving in another culture?

20 Feb 2011 — Focus On The World — Mission: World (Week 3). Today our focus goes way beyond our own backyard… God has raised up organizations that work alongside the local church in order to witness to the far reaches of our world for Jesus. This happens through evangelism, church planting and development, discipleship ministries, mercy, justice, compassion ministries, and other very tangible ways. When the church of Jesus engages in these sorts of activities, people’s eyes will be opened to the hope-giving, joy-delivering message of the Cross and their hearts will be captivated with the heaven-sent treasure — Jesus. May God use this day to propel us into more intense and strategic missional living… and would we be available for whatever or wherever God would call us.

13 Feb 2011 — Focus On The World — Mission: Winnipeg (Week 2). This month we will be challenged with God’s “global heart” and the mandate of being Jesus’ witnesses and making disciples. God has raised up organizations that work alongside the local church to reach Winnipeggers and Manitobans for Jesus. This happens most often as mercy, justice, and compassion are demonstrated in very tangible ways. When the church engages in these sorts of activities, people’s hearts are much more prone to listening to the life-changing, hope-giving, joy-delivering message of the Cross. May God use this day to propel us into more intense and strategic missional living!

06 Feb 2011 — Focus On The World (Week 1). This month we will be challenged with God’s “global heart” and the mandate of being Jesus’ witnesses and making disciples. This happens most often as mercy, justice, and compassion are demonstrated in very tangible ways. When the church engages in these sorts of activities, people’s hearts are much more prone to listening to the life-changing, hope-giving, joy-delivering message of the Cross. My God use this day to propel us into more intense and strategic missional living! We started off our Focus On The World month with a message from Shauna Archer, who spoke to us about needs that start right here at home in Winnipeg.

30 Jan 2011 — Resolve 2011 (Part 3). There’s a bit of a negative notion about New Years Resolutions, likely because most resolutions are broken almost as soon as they’ve been uttered. Statistically though, people who explicitly make resolutions are 10 times more likely to attain their goals than people who don’t explicitly make resolutions. As we enter this New Year, I want to invite you to make 3 resolutions with me. As a word of encouragement, you don’t need to make these resolutions based on your own ability or will power (that actually would be a detriment)… in submission and surrender to the Spirit of God, He’s going to move us towards seeing these resolutions bear fruit in our lives in 2011. The reason I can offer you the solid assurance of the Holy Spirit’s help, guidance, and power, is because the resolutions I’m inviting you to make, come directly from the heart of God!

23 Jan 2011 — Harris Adoption Journey. Gary and Trisha Harris will be sharing their experiences and lessons learned through their adoption process. God has taught them much over the past few years and they are excited to share what God has done with their TAC family. In a few short weeks, the Harris family will be leaving for Ethiopia to complete the adoption of their none month old baby girl, Sitina.

02 Jan 2011 — Setting the Trap. When we think of traps we don’t often associate them with words but in fact this can very well be the case. In this message we are going to look at some of the traps used by the religious leaders in Jesus’ day in order to try and catch Him with a desire to ultimately destroy Him. We will also look at a trap that was set by Jesus in order to catch the religious leaders but with the intent to ultimately set them free. In doing so we will find that it is very easy to get caught in Jesus’ trap.
